Group K World Cup 2026 Preview: Saudi Arabia, Cameroon, Slovakia and Bolivia
Group K will be remembered as the group that proved the expanded World Cup format works. In the old 32-team format, some of these sides would never have qualified. In the 48-team tournament, they have earned the right to test themselves at the highest level — and at least one of them will do something remarkable.
Saudi Arabia: Post-Argentina Confidence
Saudi Arabia entered the football world's consciousness by beating Argentina in Qatar 2022. That 2-1 win — over the eventual champions, on the first day of the tournament — may have been the greatest single-match upset in World Cup history.
The squad that achieved that has evolved, with European-based players increasingly prominent. Saleh Al-Shehri and Salem Al-Dawsari carry quality that Group K opponents cannot dismiss. Saudi Arabia know how to set up defensively and strike on the counter.
Cameroon: The Indomitable Lions
Cameroon have produced some of the greatest African footballers in history. Roger Milla's legacy lives in a tradition of physical, athletic, technically capable players who always give everything.
The current squad has genuine quality in attack — André Onana in goal is world class, and the forward options are impressive. What Cameroon need in 2026 is the collective organisation to match their individual brilliance.
Slovakia: Technical Europeans
Slovakia are technically excellent and tactically organised. Players like Ondrej Duda and their Bundesliga-based contingent bring consistent quality. They're rarely spectacular but almost always competitive.
Bolivia: The Altitude Specialists
Bolivia's qualification was built partly on home advantage at altitude. Away from La Paz, they face a different challenge — but their physical conditioning and collective spirit make them capable of a result.
